Sample Project: Protocol Development

CSNW is playing an active role with respect to development of new emission-reduction Protocols. Such Protocols offer project owners new opportunities to quantify and monetize emissions reductions associated with their projects. In particular, CSNW has worked with both a nationally-recognized oil re-refiner and The California Climate Action Registry (CCAR) in an attempt to develop a new Protocol, which if approved, will allow re-refiners to calculate and commercialize emissions reductions that result from turning used oil into new lubricant. CSNW is also looking into the emission-reduction / renewable-energy potential that would stem from a project at a coal-fired power station where CO2 would be taken from the stack, used to promote algae growth, and the algae itself would then be co-fired with coal at the facility.
